Ronnie Olsen moved into the Lakewood Heights subdivision of Mundelein, at most a year or two after Jimmy Wentz did. The Simonis moved in about that time also. Ronnie, Jim, George Simonis and I all had birthdays within a month of each other. We were in Cub Scouts together; played in an empty field across from our houses (no parks then); skated and sledded up and down the streets we live on because car traffic was so so little. We were blessed to grow up entertaining ourselves - not having parents coordinating every activity - we learned to work things out between ourselves and in so doing forged strong bonds. Ronnie was with Jimmy the evening they died in a tragic car accident - along with another neighbor, Dave Lenz and two other fellows from another area. Ronnie as quiet, gentle, sweet, smart and sensible. Like Jimmy - Ron will always be remembered as an important part of my life.
What he said...We were blessed to grow up in the greatest place on the face of the earth , and wise enough to recognize our good fortune! I will miss the guys for as long as I have breath.
